February 26 , 2008 news from IPCWELLINGTON, FL - The world's greatest male and female polo players will mount up against each other in a charity polo match to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation on Monday, March 3 at the International Polo Club Palm Beach.

Adolfo Cambiaso will take on the world's number one ranked female player Sunny Hale at the four-chukker match set for 3 p.m. Swiss master watchmaker Jaegar LeCoultre, who will launch the Women's Squadra at an international media event at 11 a.m. at the 7th Chukker at International Polo prior to the match, is sponsoring the event. Vero Beach Polo Sunday Feb 24th 2008

Vero Beach were the victors in their Citrus Cup League match against Honahlee

The score didn't reflect it -Vero winning by several goals- but Sundays game was fast with a lot of great runs down the field..A huge crowd witnessed Vero Beach's Dolf Kahle making some of his trade mark galloping breakaways and Craig Frazier named MVP for Vero.

Next Sundays match will have Vero Beach in the final of the Citrus Cup League

Citrus Cup League 8 goal Feb 10th. Vero Beach Polo..+70's party pics!

What a great game today. Shamrock vs Vero Beach..A bit of a change for Vero Beach with George Kahle at 1 instead of his usual positon at 4..
don't forget double click the image above and choose slideshow for best viewing..
Thanks James & Dawn

Shamrock came out strong in the first half playing well and leading going into the 2nd half by a couple of goals.

Seems like there must have been a good pep talk by Craig at half time as Vero Beach came charging out to catch up to Shamrock..great play by Dolf Kahle with several goals in a row to bring the game to a tie...

In the end Vero Beach won by just one goal..

MVP for the game was awarded to Dolf Kahle who really played above himself for Vero Beach.
A great day and we look forward to seeing you again at Vero Beach Polo..

Please email us at James@Gorace.com if you would like to be notified when we post new news and pics on this blog

USPA "Blue Book" 1974

I have just come across my collection of the USPA annual "Blue Book" and will be posting snapshots from the past along with any interesting tidbits I come across..Today I am starting with a great story from the 1974 Coronation Cup at Smiths Lawn in Windsor Park, England.

The USA beat England for the
third year in a row with a
score of 7-6 in what must
have been a thrilling match.....

The US team..Bill Ylvisaker-with bandaged head!, Tommy Wayman, you can see that Toby looks a lot like him, Dr. William Lightfoot & Harold Barry, being presented the trophy by Queen Elizabeth.

The American team were a bit worse for the wear going into the game. Tommy Wayman had a severe bone bruise and was thought for a while to have a broken leg! Dr Linfoot was hit in the cheek leaving him with stitches and a cracked bone. Bill Ylvisaker was hit in the head and had several stitches along with a broken nose!

The team played well together, trailing in the sixth chukka but going onto win 7-6.

playing for England were the great polo brothers Julian and Howard Hipwood..as an aside Julian and Howard are great family friends and longtime borders at our barn in Gulfstream Polo Club.

England were well ahead in the fifth chukka, Julian scoring twice. Then came the disappointment. In the final chukka the US team put on the pressure. With only four minutes to go Ylvisaker scored, followed quickly by Wayman. Six all with two minutes to go. Linfoot scored the deciding goal with only twenty seconds left on the clock!!!

More from the Blue Book soon, please check back ..

See you at polo.

Palmer Jaguar JP1
Believe the hype. Built without compromise the Palmer Jaguar JP1 is a born winner. This two seater mid-engined sports prototype was described on Top Gear as "The king of all track cars."

And nothing has yet come even close to stealing its crown. A mighty V6 Jaguar Cosworth engine is race tuned to produce an awesome performance to match the car's phenomenal grip and braking capability.

TOP SPEED180mph
0-60mph 3.6sec
0-100mph 6.8sec
bhp/tonne 370bhp
TRANSMISSION 6sp Sequential

"The Palmer Jaguar JP1 offers thrills that are genuinely identical to a pure-bred racing car experience," said EVO co-editor, Richard Meaden. "That said, it is rather more forgiving than you might expect. This is a good thing. It allows people to jump in and really feel they’ve explored its abilities, more than in other track day cars I’ve tested. AT EVO we take each car we feature to the Bedford Autodrome as part of our assessment process, and a lap time of 1m 9.8s makes the JP1 the fastest car I have driven around our test circuit. To put this figure in perspective, the lap time for a Ferrari 575M (with 508bhp) is 1m 24.5s."

Sotheby's International Realty is Exclusive Listing Agent for Donald Trump's $125 Million Palm Beach Mansion; Two of the World's Elite Brands Create New Standards in Oceanfront Living

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A spectacular 80,000 square foot mansion, owned by Donald J. Trump and featuring 475 feet of direct ocean frontage, is the exclusive listing of Sotheby's International Realty, Inc., executives of the luxury real estate brokerage firm announced today.

Sotheby's International Realty said that the mansion, situated on six and a half acres of oceanfront property, lists for $125 million and features a main house, as well as a separate pool pavilion, guest house and carriage house. Mr. Trump purchased the 11 bedroom/12 bathroom residence at auction in 2004, and recently completed a $25 million renovation.

"Everything that is Palm Beach is captured in Mr. Trump's masterful

renovation of this elegant estate. It is absolutely perfect for the owner who

loves to entertain lavishly or intimately, as they may wish, and also serves

beautifully as a family compound," said Cristina Condon, listing agent.

"With a property of this breadth and scope the possibilities are endless."

With an acute attention to detail, highlighted by bathrooms with an acute attention to detail, highlighted by bathrooms with 24-karat gold fixtures, Trump completed renovations on the property earlier this year, which included remodeling of a 4,100 square foot oceanfront conservatory with Chicago Old Brick flooring framed by an oak inlay. The home also features blonde and brown onyx and noir and vert granite floors throughout. The renovations for the residence, originally built in 1990, were completed by noted Palm Beach architect Gene Lawrence.

Other features of the European-Regency style house include 20 foot ceilings, a ballroom, media room, formal art gallery, 100' x 40' pool, and parking for 40 cars, an essential for hosting opulent parties. Multiple skylights inundate the home with natural light, and an enormous full basement matches the footprint of the home offering endless possibilities for housing unique collections.

"This is perhaps the finest property of its kind anywhere in the world and most importantly, it is in Palm Beach, the finest community," Mr. Trump said.

Ultra private 7-acre residence on almost 500’ direct ocean frontage. Beautifully restored 62,000± sq. ft. Regency-style mansion with sweeping ocean views and vast emerald lawns. Heralded by a majestic motor court with a fountain, impressive entertaining spaces are dramatized by soaring ceilings and massive sun-drenched skylights, also featuring a grand ballroom, formal art gallery, ocean-side loggia and stunning 100' long pool. Climate-controlled full basement for a connoisseur’s collections. Unmatched scope and endless possibilities in an extraordinary compound offering a magnificent Master Suite, 6 Guest Suites, staff Quarters, complimented by 3 additional structures including 2 bedroom Poolside Retreat, 2 bedroom Guest House and 4 bedroom vintage Coach House.
